New solutions for all residentsInfrastructure that opens up the city
Elektrovnia Garbary project will not only provide modern residential and commercial buildings, but also new roads and technical infrastructure that will transform the functioning of this part of the city.
- New streets and bridges - Construction of Św. Wincentego Street from the former Garbary Power Plant site to Hlonda Street, along with sidewalks, bike paths, and ramps. New bridges will be constructed over the Relief Canal and the Cybina River, as well as a new road viaduct to replace the existing railway viaduct.
- Expansion of Panny Marii Street - The street will gain a new sidewalk, lighting, storm sewer system and service channel. Safety will be improved by reconstructing the intersection with Ostrów Tumski Street.
- New pedestrian and bicycle routes - Construction of a pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the Warta River, construction of a new bicycle path along Szelągowska Street and expansion of Wartostrada, connecting it with Św. Wincentego Street.
- Modern technical solutions - The investment includes the construction of drainage systems, lighting, process ducts, water and sewage networks, heating systems and telecommunications networks. A monitoring and alarm system for the city of Poznań will also be installed.
The ROBYG investment, implemented as part of the Elektrovnia Garbary, is not just a development project – it represents a real modernisation of the city. It will be one of the largest private infrastructure investments in Poznań's history, valued at approximately PLN 100 million.

A legacy that will last for decadesThe place where modern Poznań began
Launched in 1929, the former Garbary Heat and Power Plant was one of the most important symbols of modernity in interwar Poznań. Located in the northern part of Ostrów Tumski, in the immediate vicinity of the Warta River and railway tracks, it was the heart of the city’s energy infrastructure. he power plant supplied electricity and, from 1965 onwards, heat to homes, workplaces and public institutions, becoming an integral part of the daily life of Poznań’s residents.
The architecture of the complex, maintained in the spirit of industrial modernism, combined functionality with aesthetics – brick facades, chimneys and austere forms reflected an era of pride in progress and technology. For decades, the Garbary Heat and Power Plant supplied the city with energy and helped shape its identity.
Before the power plant and, later, the combined heat and power plant was built here, the area served a completely different, strategic function. From the 19th century until the beginning of the 20th century, during the Prussian and German partitions, Poznań was one of the most important defensive outposts in the region. The city was surrounded by a system of fortifications – the so-called Poznań Fortress – one of the largest fortification complexes of its kind in Europe, composed of defensive infrastructure and military depots. The Roon Fort redoubt, preserved on the investment site, serves as a reminder of this location’s unique history
